Imagine a Raindrop...

Mother Nature has a sense of humor. How else can you explain rain? For as much good as rain does in the world, for a log home it’s downright destructive.

Picture a raindrop. Not just any drop. A raindrop with attitude. A game-cancelling, picnic-stopping, run-for-cover raindrop that doesn’t care where it ends up after splatting the earth.

These are the raindrops that head straight for the bottom few log courses on a log home. These are the raindrops that ruin, and the drops that degrade the integrity of a log home.

Then the equally brutal brother, the sprinkler, gets in on the game, double-teaming the damage doing. Round and round it goes, pummeling day and night, season after season.

Unprotected log walls absorb rain and sprinkler water and start to rot. Maybe not this month, or even this year, but over time, neglected logs will rot and weaken the walls of a log home.

That’s the bad news. The good news is that the remarkably skilled craftsmen at Rocco’s Log Home Restoration can restore any log home to its full beauty and structural wholeness. They have repaired hundreds of log homes, as you are about to see.

Services

Rocco is the partner you need to restore any log home. Sure he does chinking, media blasting, and staining too, but replacing rotted logs requires an experienced expert. Why? Because working on a log home isn’t for the average tradesman or builder, or someone who happens to do some woodwork on the side. It takes a very unique set of skills to restore the log structure and beauty of a water-damaged log home.

The crew at Rocco’s Log Home Restoration are renowned for their ability to assess the damage and properly repair log walls. What they do is save the legacy of a log home so it can be enjoyed for generations to come.

Restoration

When a course or more of logs have rotted, they threaten the foundation of a log home. If there is noticeable weathering on the lower sections of log home walls, it is time to be concerned that it could turn into costly damage. Considering what log homeowners are up against with rain and moisture, it will take more than a coat or two of stain. If there is serious log rot, it is time to bring in experienced log craftsmen to replace the damaged logs of the log house. It is time to call Rocco’s Log Home Restoration.

Media Blasting

We know that moisture harms log homes, so when old stain, paint, or weather discoloration needs to be removed from log homes we cannot use a power water sprayer, and chemical washes are harmful to the environment. We only use a dry method for removing old finishes, and media blasting is the best option. Using dry glass beads and high-pressure compressed air, we are able to strip away everything we need in order to get back to the natural log color and grain. Then we can sand and apply new paint or stain.

Staining

Staining the exterior log walls of a log home is one of the most important aspects of regular and preventive maintenance. More so than the quality of the stain, it’s the application that properly protects a log home. The experts at Rocco’s Log Home Restoration are unmatched in their knowledge of the proper application of log home stains, along with pre-treating log home walls for decay and insect infestation prevention.

Chinking

Rocco’s only relies on ultra-premium chinking materials and combines them with proven application techniques. This is how cold air, moisture and insects stay out of a log home’s interior.
